Designed as a true backyard retreat, this West Vancouver renovation transformed an underutilized outdoor area into a private, resort-inspired escape – one that seamlessly blends relaxation, recreation, and architectural presence.

The project began with the construction of a new ipe deck, providing a warm, refined foundation for outdoor living and entertaining outside the fully retracted doors of the outdoor studio space. Surrounding this Studio and the Pool, synthetic turf was installed to deliver year-round greenery with minimal maintenance, complemented by a custom putting green that adds both function and fun to the space.

A central water feature with cascading waterfall introduces movement and sound, creating a calming atmosphere while reinforcing the sense of separation from the surrounding neighbourhood. Natural stone retaining walls anchor the water feature and natural stone patio space and connect the design to the West Coast environment. We also were contracted to install a two tiered concrete retaining walls at the rear of the property dramatically expanding the usable outdoor area by nearly 1,500 square feet – unlocking new possibilities for circulation, gathering, and enjoyment.

The landscape was further enhanced with integrated landscape lighting throughout, extending the usability of the space well into the evening and highlighting key architectural and planting elements. A new irrigation system ensures long-term health and performance across all planted areas.

The experience is complemented by a custom yoga and studio space, thoughtfully designed as a place for wellness and creativity, and built by CCI Renovations. This addition elevates the project beyond a traditional backyard renovation, transforming it into a holistic living environment.
