Chris O’Donohue


Chris O’Donohue has over 25 years of experience in the landscape and horticulture industry. He founded The Great Canadian Landscaping Company Ltd. in the year 2000. Chris holds the designation of a Certified Landscape Horticulturist in accordance with the Statutes of the Province of British Columbia. Chris has lived on the North Shore since he was a toddler and currently resides in Edgemont Village with his wife and two daughters. He serves his community proudly through the and with Edible Garden Project. He has also served as the Vice President of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #44 and was on the Board of Directors with TB Vets. In 2010, his company was awarded “Service Excellence” from the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. He was also awarded the “Forty under Forty” from Business in Vancouver in 2010. In 2011, Chris was awarded “Business Person of the Year” from the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. From 2013-2017, The Great Canadian Landscaping Company Ltd. has been awarded “Best of Houzz in Design & Service”. Chris works hard to ensure customer satisfaction through his continuous development in education and systems that are implemented at The Great Canadian Landscaping Company Ltd..

Hamid Zamani


Hamid is a member of Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and BC. He has a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and over 20 years of experience in auditing, accounting, and finance. Hamid has extensive experience in transportation and construction industries.

Hamid joined our team in July 2018 and assists the company with cash flow management, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, and organizational efficiency and productivity. When he’s not working, Hamid enjoys playing soccer, chess and go hiking and swimming with his family and friends.

Steven Craig

Senior Project Manager

Steven is the Senior Project Manager at The Great Canadian Landscaping Company. He has over 18 years of construction & landscaping experience. He also has received the Advanced City and Guilds certifications in masonry and engineered masonry in Scotland, where he worked on historical abbeys, cathedrals and in bridge construction.

He moved to Canada 10 years ago, from Scotland, where he played professional rugby and represented Scotland on the rugby international 7s team.

He found his passion in landscaping once arriving in Vancouver and has had the privilege of building some of Vancouver’s most high end and detailed residential and commercial landscapes. As a part of the Great Canadian Team, Steven is responsible for overseeing every project and leads a talented group of individuals, including project managers, project admins, the logistics manager and the safety officer. Stevens passion every day is working alongside a team of people who care about landscaping and exceeding our client’s expectations. Networking with Peers and clients talking about anything landscaping with those who will listen long enough.

Steven now lives in beautiful Squamish with his young family and when he is not working he enjoys fishing and the great outdoors.

Gord Driver


Gord Driver has been working in the west coast landscape climate for over 25 years. He brings with him years of experience in all areas of the industry including estimating , installing and project management. His roots are firmly planted on the North Shore having brought up four kids here. He spent the majority of those years running his own local landscape business and is now excited to come to the Great Canadian Team. Gord is here to share his knowledge , create new relationships and manage your projects.

Alex Jordan

Project Manager

Alex has worked with our company for 6+ years in many different roles. Alex enjoys all aspects of Landscape Installation & maintenance. There is not a job Alex can’t do at our company and he is one that our recruits always look to for training and assistance. When he is not installing landscapes you can find Alex either up on the Mountain Skiing or Mountain biking the local hills.

Matt Fox

Project Manager

Matt started in the construction field, in mining and industrial construction on projects like the Seymour Capilano Twin Tunnels Completion Project. 8 years ago, Matt change direction and entered in the landscape construction industry and with his wife, co-owned a landscaping company where he found his true passion for landscaping.

Matt joined The Great Canadian Landscaping Company in December 2019 and is excited to be a part of the team and to be surrounded by amazing, like minded individuals with diverse backgrounds that share his passion for landscaping and business. Currently enrolled in UBC and working towards his PMP certificate in Project Management.

Matt has recently moved to Squamish with his wife and two young children and loves to spend his free time with his family in the outdoors and beautiful elements Squamish has to offer.

Ivan Pinillos

Project Manager – Maintenance

Ivan is the Maintenance Manager at The Great Canadian Landscaping Company. He has always lived a very active life. He was a dog walker/dog trainer for 2 years before becoming a landscaper. He started as a lawn cutter and within a few years he became a Red Seal Landscape Horticulturist running a crew of 5; providing maintenance to large strata contracts. He joined our team 3 years ago as a Softscape foreman and quickly showed great promise. Within a year and a half he became one of our Hardscape foreman. We are now happy to have him as our Maintenance Manager.

Steve Koonts

Manager – Softscape / Snow and Ice Management

Steve Koonts has spent the last 14 years working within The Great Canadian Landscaping Company. Using his years of experience in the field Steve has become an integral aspect of the operations team within the company. Steve’s role within Great Canadian has evolved over the years and he is now the Snow & Ice Manager and Project Coordinator. Within this role Steve values working in the community in which he grew up in and takes pride in ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. This role also allows him to mentor and support the new recruits as they enter the Horticulture trade and further improve the overall team. When Steve isn’t working he loves spending time with his young family and playing sports such as baseball, hockey, soccer.

Derek Churchill

Project Manager – Softscape

Derek is a horticultural specialist. He has been in the industry since 2004 and has focused his skills on understanding how plants grow and how best to care for them.  Derek is a Red Seal Landscape Horticulturist, ISA Certified Arborist, qualified tree risk accessor, and BC Certified Pesticide Applicator.  His experience includes working as a trades gardener at a municipality, owning and operating his own landscape maintenance company, volunteering as an official in the BC Skills Competition and working with the Industry Training Authority.  Derek is currently a faculty member with Burnaby Community and Continuing Education teaching the Landscape Horticulture Apprenticeship program.

Derek is proud to call North Vancouver home, where he was born and raised.  Currently, Derek lives with his wife and son near Parkgate and enjoys camping and going for bike rides with his family.  

Sarah Penner-Kinch

Lead Horticulturalist

Sarah Penner-Kinch grew up in the Eastern Fraser Valley and fell in love with the horticulture industry while working in a garden centre as a teen. She studied Agriculture Technology Diploma at UFV with a major in Horticulture. Sarah has worked in many different areas in the horticulture and landscaping industry over the last 20 years. Before coming to The Great Canadian Landscaping Company Ltd., she was a subcontract supervisor for over seven years at a landscape garden and maintenance company in the Valley. She also ran her own small landscaping company when she had time off. In her spare time she enjoys sprinting, playing golf and paddle boarding.

Sean Gladwin

Logistics Manager

Sean has worked at Great Canadian Landscaping for the past 8 years; originally working as a Heavy Machinery Operator and now as the Logistics Manager. He enjoys being a part of the GCLC team and making sure everything is in good working order for the crews. When he’s not at work, you’ll find him working on his cars and taking them for a spin!

Landon Giesbrecht


Landon loves The Great Canadian Landscaping Company Ltd. He has spent the last 16 years working for The Great Canadian Landscaping Company Ltd. as a Foreman/Supervisor. He is a CLT Certified Landscaping Technician (Turf Maintenance) and has successfully completed Smart Driver in the City on behalf of FleetSmart. Landon is also certified in Emergency First Aid for Industry (the OFA Level 1 Equivalent). In the winter, Landon is all about Great Canadian Snow Management. He has provided Snow and Ice Services for the past 14 seasons.

Cristian Cifuentes


Cristian finished school in 1996 with an Advanced Technician Degree and since then has dedicated himself to work in the area of ​​landscaping. He has worked in different companies always trying to deliver the best and also learn from the best professionals he has met on this long journey. Cristian has always taken landscaping with a lot of passion and dedication, for him it is more than his profession, “it is art”. He always tries to put his 100% in what he does, and as an ideal in his life he always tries to be the best in what he does. Learning from his mistakes and his colleagues, they never finish learning and that is the key to always continuing delivering more and more. With great humility Cristian has always tried to share his experience and make people understand, and especially his colleagues that respect and love nature like himself. Cristian is thankful for the opportunity to work at The Great Canadian Landscaping company Ltd. that allows him to express his work with the passion he has in his heart.

Lindsay Langford


Lindsay joined The Great Canadian family in spring of 2016, after beginning her apprenticeship at Kwantlen University and is working towards getting her Red Seal in horticulture. Her exemplary work ethic and ‘can do’ attitude did not go unnoticed. She was promoted to Maintenance Foreman and has been enjoying maintaining residential landscapes and stratas. Prior to working with Great Canadian she spent 7 years as a floral designer and loves doing the plantings for the spring and fall planters. With her artistic flair and using her creativity she continually improves her clients landscapes. She hopes to try out landscape design sometime! Lindsay is a North shore local and thus has a passion for all things outdoors.

Catharine Lansing


Catharine is a seasoned traveller who has loved the outdoors since her first camping trip at the age of two. Since then she has completed an Outdoor Education Program and utilized her knowledge during countless hikes and portages while growing up in the forests of Ontario. She put herself through the Environmental Technology program at Georgian College by planting trees and working forestry at Canadian Forces Base Borden. Catharine is now loving her role at GCLC and is in the process of completing her Red Seal Certificate in Landscape Horticulture, where she can continue to build on her passions for plants and landscapes.

Kate Sibbald


Kate was born with a green thumb and has had a love for all thing’s nature since a very young age. Born and raised in North Van, she started her landscaping career 8 years ago working alongside her Dad and his small company; it was there she realized Horticulture is her passion, and with that, her hunger for growth and knowledge. Since then she has moved on to complete the first level of her Landscape Horticulturist apprenticeship and is eager to continue working towards her Red Seal. She joined the Great Canadian family in December 2019 and is excited to see what opportunities may await her here.  In her spare time, you can find her hiking with her dog or in the outdoors seeking the next adventure that life has to offer.

Chad Toth


Chad likes working for The Great Canadian Landscaping Company Ltd. because he is able to work outside in beautiful Vancouver and the North Shore. He loves working for our clients and the team that surrounds him each day at work. Work is never boring and there is always an opportunity to learn something new. He is always looking for new training opportunities to improve the craft of Hardscape.

Luke Olds


Luke joined the Great Canadian Landscaping company Ltd. as a Softscape Foreman in September 2017. Originally from the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia, he now calls Vancouver home. Luke brings with him 14 years of experience, completing his Horticulture Apprenticeship in 2008. Luke’s passion for horticulture intensified once he left Australia in 2015, since then he has traveled around the world, working in the United Kingdom and now Canada. Traveling has giving him the opportunity to master different horticultural techniques and learn a vast array of plant species that don’t exist in the warmer climates. Being new to the Pacific North West, he is continuously fascinated by the majestic snow capped mountains, picturesque autumn leaves and the explosion of colour during spring. Luke’s impeccable standards and his priority for customer satisfaction is what motivates him to come to work every day. When he’s not at work Luke likes so spend his spare time watching sports and researching the next exotic travel destination.

Grant Truesdell


Grant Truesdell is an Install Foreman and is in charge of bringing hardscape and carpentry projects to life. His previous experience as a metal fabricator, welder as well as his rock blasting and carpentry experience makes him a very versatile foreman able to handle any project that comes his way. He has a passion for music, bodybuilding, philosophy and science. When he’s not helping build your dream landscape you’ll find him touring the world with this band, Unleash the Archers, or kicking up wood chips in your local park with his 2 beautiful kids and wife. He’s proud to call Vancouver and the Great Canadian Landscaping company home.

Nathan Ypma



Braden Kamphuis


Braden is one of the Foremen at Great Canadian Landscaping. His passions and strengths lie in paving and natural stone work. Snowboarding, skateboarding, hiking and spending time outside is where you’ll find him when he isn’t at work!

Hugo Jackson


I was born and raised in west London, England.  Moved to Canada in 2010 after completing a year of schooling in tree surgery, and then 4 years of horticulture, design, plant and soil sciences, and native ecology.  I was lucky enough to be apart of Chelsea flower show twice and have received two silver guilds from the queen for my participation in those gardens.

I have my first aid level 1 OFA and my aireal rescue ticket from tree climbing.   Due to living in Squamish for 10 years now I enjoy my fishing, climbing, hiking with my dog, and riding my motorbike.

I came to the great Canadian landscaping company because of the diverse group of professionals I get to work with and enjoy working daily with the whole team.

Joel Hoeppner


Joel is an Install Foreman for Great Canadian Landscaping. He works in hardscapes, softscapes and even some woodworking. He enjoys working outside in the sun, on the gorgeous properties with amazing views, and alongside the hard-working GCLC team. Joel is passionate about trail running, Jesus and helping people!

Zak O’Gorman


Zak is an Install Foreman at Great Canadian Landscaping. Having completed a 4 year carpentry apprenticeship in Australia, he has transferred this knowledge and skill set to Canada and for the last 14 months at Great Canadian. He thoroughly enjoys working in construction and believes his broad range of ability really helps in providing a quality result for every client, whether that be a perimeter fence to a high end deck. He really enjoys working amongst his peers and helping them improve their skill set along the way. Overall this helps with the outcome of the product and ensures the work environment is fun, but efficient. Outside of work, he really enjoys exploring the unique landscape of British Columbia. Snowboarding, surfing and hiking are just a few of his weekend hobbies. He is really looking forward to his future with the Great Canadian Landscaping Company.
